FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Last night President Biden issued his second State of the Union address and recommitted to
paid family and medical leave and the family care agenda.

“President Biden’s State of the Union comes on the heels of the 30th anniversary of the Family
and Medical Leave Act and the Administration’s actions to support and expand access to paid
family and medical leave. The President’s empathy, optimism, and commitment to getting the
job done on paid leave will energize voters and working families everywhere,” said Dawn
Huckelbridge, director of Paid Leave for All. “We thank him and the Vice President for this
renewed push and look forward to working alongside him to deliver paid leave for all working
people.”

Paid leave is a proven tool for public health, economic growth, and racial and gender equity, and
one of the most widely supported policies in the country. Passed with other care programs, paid
leave would yield millions of jobs, billions in wages, and trillions in GDP, and it would meet the
needs of working families and a 21st century economy.
