FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Washington, DC — Paid Leave for All, the biggest coalition fighting for paid family and medical leave for all working people, released the following statement following President Biden’s remarks today detailing progress on U.S. COVID-19 vaccination efforts, and calling on all employers to provide paid time off for employees to get their vaccine in an effort to bolster our national vaccination efforts:

“Paid Leave for All applauds President Biden’s call for employers to provide paid time off to get their COVID-19 vaccine or recover from any side effects from the vaccine,” said Paid Leave for All Director Dawn Huckelbridge. “The Biden Administration’s announcement of a tax credit for small and medium-size businesses offering paid time off for employees getting their COVID-19 vaccine only reiterates the need for universal access to paid family and medical leave for all working people, and the economic and public health benefits of a paid leave program. Every American should be able to take time away from their jobs to take care of themselves or a loved one without risking their job or paycheck. This pandemic has made it clear that in order to truly build back better, we need to support working families across our country through the passage of a permanent, national paid leave policy.”
